Top Denver Neighborhoods for Trick or Treating in 2025

We’ve rounded up all the best neighborhoods to go trick or treating in Denver, Colorado in 2025. Read on for our top choices and why.

1. Hilltop, Denver

Why it stands out: Hilltop is often cited as a “gold mine” for candy. One local noted that it “feels the most like suburban trick-or-treating” in the city—leafy streets, fewer cars buzzing by, plenty of homes handing out treats.

Tips:

  • The block density is solid but still spacious enough to walk comfortably.

  • Arrive early (around dusk) so younger kids aren’t racing through after dark.

  • Consider parking a little away and walking in; late arrivals may have trickier parking.

Bonus: Hilltop has had organized Halloween events (like a picnic & parade near Cranmer Park) in prior years.

2. Montclair, Denver

Why it stands out: Montclair is known for going all out. According to residents, parts of Montclair (especially around Oneida Street & East Severn Place) are “ground zero” for Halloween in Denver, with dramatic decorations and large crowds of trick-or-treaters.

Tips:

  • Expect crowds. More children + high décor enthusiasm = bustling energy.

  • Good for older kids who can handle a bit more pace and excitement.

  • Wear comfortable shoes, bring a roomy bag, and maybe plan a meet-up spot in case you split up.

  • Because of the popularity, traffic and parking may be heavier—arrive early.

3. Cherry Hills Village, Denver

Why it stands out: This neighborhood gets big props for lavish Halloween décor and generous candy distribution. One resident said “the families go all out… some even created their own haunted houses.”

Tips:

  • Because lots are large and homes are more spread out, you might walk a bit more.

  • Bring a large bag or even a backpack for the haul.

  • For younger children: pick a small section of the neighborhood to visit so you don’t get overly tired.

  • Combine trick-or-treating with the neighborhood’s ambiance (e.g., enjoy walking through beautifully decorated yards).

4. Virginia Village, Denver

Why it stands out: This is a solid choice especially for families with younger children: many homes, good mix of demographics (kids, retirees), and wide streets with fewer parked cars—meaning safer walkability.

Tips:

  • Go early while it’s still light outside, and younger kids are fresh.

  • Consider stopping for a bite nearby before heading out—Virginia Village has convenient eateries.

  • Make sure everyone has reflective gear or a flashlight: even on “quiet” streets, visibility matters.

5. Park Hill, Denver

Why it stands out: Park Hill gets frequent recognition for creative decorations and strong community participation in Halloween. Elders comment on “the level of seriousness the neighborhood takes” around Halloween.

Tips:

  • Because the community leans into décor, some homes might be more theatrically spooky—so gauge your child’s comfort level with scarier elements.

  • Consider doing a loop: pick one or two streets known for decorations, then exit toward home when energy wanes.

  • Parking is generally easier than the densest trick-or-treat zones—though it still gets busy.

General Trick-or-Treating Tips for Denver

  • Aim to hit houses after dusk but not too late—between about 5:30/6:00 pm and 8:30 pm is common. Some neighborhoods fill up or candy runs out later.

  • Always go with at least one responsible adult (or older sibling) if kids are younger.

  • Bring a flashlight or use phone light, plus reflective clothing or accessories for visibility.

  • Follow neighborhood etiquette: skip houses with porch lights off, wait for others to finish receiving candy before you approach the door, be polite and use “thank you.”

  • If you’ll be doing multiple neighborhoods, plan your route ahead and check parking/traffic (Denver residential areas can fill up quickly).

  • Dress in layers! Even if it’s mild at sunset, Denver nights in late October can get chilly.

We hope you have a safe and fun Halloween trick or treating in Denver this year!
